Safe, Dry Home Allows Children to Return to School
Kids Promise recently announced its 33rd Charity Home for the family of Mr. Le Van Phong and Mrs. Tran Thi Kim Luu of Kien Giang province in Vietnam.
The family are rice farmers but their crops had failed several times. Unable to afford the rent for the farming land, the family worked as tenants to gradually pay off their debts. They work in the rice fields or catch fish to make a living, and the oldest daughter left school to work and help make ends meet.
Despite the family’s hard work, they couldn’t afford to cover more than their very basic living expenses. They couldn’t afford to send their children to school and their home fell into serious disrepair. Termites damaged the pillars and the rain leaked through in the rainy season, keeping the family up all night.
With a solid new home and basic furniture donated by Kids Promise, the family no longer has to worry about their safety or live with the wind and rain. The parents are committed to raising well-educated children.
The ceremony to hand over the new home was small due to COVID 19 restrictions, but a joyful occasion. Kids Promise would like to send a special thanks to Tim Schoen for fully sponsoring this home for the family.
