Kids Promise Presents First Charity Home of 2021
The family of Mr. Le Van Tuan and Mrs. Đao Thi Roi of Tien Giang province, Vietnam, were the recipients of the first Kids Promise charity home of 2021.
The two adults and three young children have faced extreme difficulties in meeting their basic needs. Mr. Tuan’s disabilities make it a challenge for him to work, and while Mrs. Roi has held various jobs outside the home, the addition of a new baby prevented her from working more.
Their original home was 10 years old and in bad condition, with a leaky roof that was a hazard during rain storms. The family tried various business ventures to improve the living conditions for their children, including raising fish, ducks and frogs. But money still had to be borrowed when illness hit and medical expenses were needed.
The family received their 42 m2 home during a ceremony that included neighbors, local government officials, and Kids Promise representatives. Everyone wished the family happiness and good health.
The home was possible thanks to a generous donation from Mr. Steve Havig of Minneapolis, USA. Mr. Havig is a U.S. Vietnam veteran stationed in Lai Khe and Dau Tieng from 1968-1970.
The family thanked Kids Promise for the home and hopes that sponsors continue donating to Kids Promise so that they can continue building safe houses for other families.
