Family Living on the Water Moves into Stable, Dry Home

We were honored to celebrate the presentation of Charity Home #47 to the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Thoi and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy of Kien Giang province, Vietnam.

Mr. Thoi and Mrs. Thuy have three children and live full time on a small boat. The family makes a living by catching fish in the canals and bringing it to local markets to sell. On average, their daily income is 200k – 300k VND (about $8.30 – $12.40 USD).

Fishing is the family’s only source of income; they have no rice fields or gardens. The parents were working hard to buy a house, but unfortunately Mr. Thoi had an accident and is now in a wheelchair permanently.

The Kids Promise home was presented along with a bed, study desk for the children, a dining table and chairs, and a fan. Mr. Thoi’s family, local officials, the Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Hiep district, and other relatives and neighbors joined together to help us celebrate the home and offered the family words of congratulations and encouragement.
