Family of 5 Receives Kids Promise House #37
The 37th Kids Promise Charity Home has been constructed, giving yet another family the stability and safety to focus on their children’s education. A special thanks to Maggie and Wardwell Johnson, who sponsored this life-changing home.
The house was given to the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Quan & Mrs. Lam Ngoc Vien at Nam Do Hamlet, Tan Phuoc Commune, Dong Phu District, Binh Phuoc Province in Vietnam. The parents and their three children – ages 14, 11 and 3 – had been living in a hand-made home for six years that was built on land that Mr. Quan exchanged for a cow. He and his wife worked by picking cashews, pepper, coffee and firewood, however the work is not consistent and doesn’t pay well.
Mrs. Vien recently got a job at a footwear company with a better salary, but Mr. Quan suffers from a spinal cord disease and other health issues, and therefore cannot work often. Luckily, the family’s original house was tucked between two walls which blocked the winds and prevented the house from collapsing completely.
Kids Promise was able to build the family a sturdy, cool home that included a front yard, living room, one bedroom, a few pieces of furniture, and a bicycle for the oldest child to use to get to school.
