Family of Five Receives Safe, Stable Home

Despite living in extreme poverty and unstable housing, Mr. Chuong and Mrs. Sa at Tan Phu ensured that their three children pursued their dream of an education. Recently, we were able to provide the family with a safe, stable home in Tien Giang province.

The family had been living in a home that was a potential safety hazard during storms.. Indeed, their last home collapsed because of storms in 2006. Jobs are unreliable in this region because of the rainy season, though goat farming contributes to their income. But because they live in the mangrove area, most of their income is spent on getting fresh water for the family. What little is left over is used to pay the school fees for the two older girls in secondary school and the younger boy in primary school.

At the ceremony to officially deliver the home to the family, Mr. Chuong gave a truly heartfelt speech in which he expressed his happiness and blessings.
