Kids Promise Completes 51st Charity Home

After over a month of construction, on Sunday, April 21, 2024, Kids Promise held a ceremony to hand over Charity Home #51 to the family of Mr. Truong Minh Phung and Ms. Nguyen Thi Truc Linh, along with their two children, living in My Loi hamlet, My Long commune, Cai Lay, Tien Giang province.

About the Family

Mr. Phung, Ms. Linh, and their two small children lived in an old house with rough ground, a corrugated iron roof with weak and unstable wooden beams, corrugated iron walls, and temporary coconut leaves. The home was built in 2015 on a piece of land for temporary residence. The house was often flooded when it rained heavily, or the water from the dike overflowed, and it had an odor because there were livestock barns around.

Mr. Phung lives as a hired laborer and earns 300k/day. Ms. Linh doesn’t have a job, so she stays home to take care of her two children, who are in second grade and kindergarten. She peels cashew nuts to supplement her income. At most, she earns about 1,5 million VND per month. Because of these circumstances, the couple hadn’t considered building a new house even though it was their family’s dream.

Our goal was to give them a cozy, clean, and decent place to live, improving their quality of life and, hopefully, the family’s economy in the future.

A Comfortable, Cozy New Home

The new house is about 45m2 wide, with concrete columns and steel, ceramic tile floor, and plaster on both sides of the walls. The spacious, airy living space is designed to give the family solidity and safety.

In addition, Kids Promise gave the family a wooden bed, an electric fan, a dining table, and ten plastic chairs to help them all feel more comfortable. We hope this new house will nurture and motivate the family in their journey forward.

This house is sponsored by Joseph & Rozanne Pollack and friends in the US. On behalf of the family, Mr. Phung said he’s delighted to live in a new home he didn’t think he could have, and thanks Kids Promise and our sponsors.
