Announcing Charity Home #36 in Quang Nam Province
After two months of construction, we are thrilled to announce the completion of our 36th charity home.
The home was given to the deserving family of Mr. Phan Van Tinh and Mrs. Tran Thi Yen of Quang Nam province. The home’s handover ceremony included representatives of Kids Promise and the Red Cross. With this new home, the family can live in a dry, safe building and focus on improving their economic situation and their children’s education.
The couple was caring for Mr. Tinh’s sick father, who eventually passed away and left them a small piece of land on which they could grow rice. However, the land isn’t well-suited to rice farming, and so Mr. Tinh and Ms. Yen can only grow a small amount that sustains them and their two children for three months each year. Mr. Tinh is raising a few cows and works part-time jobs to supplement his income, but nothing pays enough to fully support the family in this remote area of the country.
Their original home served the family well on sunny days. But, as we at Kids Promise learned, the rainy days caused the house to leak and overflow with water. During storms, the family had to evacuate to Mr. Tinh’s mother’s house. The family has wished for a safe house that could withstand the rainy season, but their meager and unstable income made this dream impossible.
The charity home ceremony was a happy affair and we all congratulated the family on their new house, which includes a concrete base and columns, a cool tin roof, enameled tile floor, and a few basic pieces of furniture.
On behalf of the family, Kids Promise would like to express our deep gratitude to the sponsors: Mr. Phong Ly, Ms. Thuy Le, Ms. Dung Luong, Mr. Nghia Doan, Ms. My Chi Vo, and other friends who sponsored House #36. We wish you good health and all the best!
