Kids Promise Helps Multi-Generation Family Gain a Safe, Secure Home

Kids Promise is happy to announce the completion of our recent charity home for the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Lam and Mrs. Le Bach Yen. The parents, along with their three children – ages 24, 23 and 14 – and Mrs. Yen’s mother live in Hung Tan Hamlet, Hung Thanh Commune, Tan Hung District, Long An Province.

Their original home was about 20 years old and did not adequately protect the family from storms and rain. They had lost hope of a new home, as Mrs. Yen’s mother had been very ill for several years and the majority of the family’s income was spent on her medicine and treatments. Recently, they took out a loan to pay for the children’s school fees and other critical family expenses; when they couldn’t repay the loan, Mrs. Yen left the family to work as a home helper in the city and Mr. Lam stayed behind to serve as a temporary worker. One of the children graduated from Can Tho University, and her monthly income is going toward the loan the family took out to pay for her education.

The Kids Promise house is a secure structure that will keep the family cool in the heat and safe during the storms and the rainy season. We would like to recognize and thank the local sponsors who give financial and spiritual support to Kids Promise.
