Kids Promise Completes 50th Charity Home
On Sunday, January 21, 2024, the Kids Promise team held a ceremony to hand over Charity House #50 to the family of Mr. Ho Khac Bao and his daughter Ho Thi Bao Linh in Phu Long hamlet, Phu Phong commune, Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province.
A Family in Need
The daughter, Ho Thi Bao Linh, is in 4th grade, and her mother left when she was two. Without her mother’s care, her body is weak and malnourished. Unfortunately, Mr. Bao is also diagnosed with severe tuberculosis. The disease made his health unstable, weak, physically weak, and unable to do heavy labor.
Currently, Mr. Bao works as a day laborer, with wages fluctuating around 200,000 VND/day. This amount is only enough for him to spend on food and medicine.
The house looked abandoned, with only the skeleton and cement columns remaining, and the items showed no signs of use. The single bedroom in the house, where the girl sleeps every night, is only temporarily covered for privacy.
Unveiling the New Home
Attending the unveiling ceremony were Kids Promise representatives and members of the delegation, along with local officials, neighbors, and relatives. The new house is about 48m2 and is firmly designed with open, airy space. The structure includes concrete columns and steel, ceramic tile floors, and plaster on both sides of the wall, providing much-needed stability and safety for the family. In addition, Kids Promise also gave the family a dining table and ten plastic chairs to help stabilize their life.
The daughter said she was happy because she now has a better bedroom. The father expressed his joy, saying he would not have this great home without help from Kids Promise. Both family members shared their gratitude to the Kids Promise team and sponsors.
